Global Campaign – 27.11.2014

What if women could control HIV prevention? This was a major question in the 1990s, when condoms provided the most reliable and realistic way to prevent HIV infection. Despite huge biomedical, many women are still not able to protect themselves against infection because of barriers such as stigma, partner violence & limited access to services. The Global Campaign for Microbicides (GCM) was set up to answer this question by developing a prevention technology --– such as a protective vaginal gel.
