Patrick Dale James was born in Manhattan Kansas March 30, 1946 to Grover (Jimmy) and Fondanelle James. His talents and wonderfully artistic eye were known to all he welcomed into his heart, home and clearly to all who saw his striking figure. Patrick will be remembered best for his astounding wit, unfailing ear and marvelous sense of fun and beauty. Patrick was a pioneer AIDS advocate, authoring the book, Guide for Social Security Disability Insurance Claims for HIV Disease–AIDS-ARC, written while gravely ill and representing hundreds of clients. Patrick also founded ABC, AIDS Benefit Counselors, an organization based on free advocacy for AIDS, ARC and HIV patients to receive Social Security benefits. Patrick died March 17, 1989 in San Francisco. Patrick rests in the Mock family plot next to his grandfather John C Mock.
